Hey guys. I found this site several weeks ago and have been lurking since. I ordered my nal from allday shortly after I found this site and UPS tracking shows it leaving customs last night. It's very timely as I've just come off a typical St Pattys day weekend. I went to a party and drank several beers then we headed to a bar and had several shots, spent over 200 bucks, stumbled home and slept with some girl I had just met.

I'm hungover and depressed and ready to quit drinking like a junky. I've been a weekend drinker since I was 16 (turning 30 this year) and its getting old.

I spend all week eating healthy and going to the gym then friday night rolls around and I start feeling the urge to drink. One drink turns into a case or a bottle of scotch and before I know it the weekend is over and I feel like crap. Need to make a change and I hope the nal gets here by Friday.

I know that feeling all too well Denver, look forward to the weekend, make a total mess of it, spend untill Thursday depressed and guilty only to get up on Friday looking forward to the weekend. Its a vicious circle.

Im only on Nal 4 weeks and it may still be honeymoon for me but its been like a magic pill for me. I look forward to your progress reports.

Go down to El Chapultepec and have a beer for me. I miss Denver. I Lived there for 6 years and played in a band called Freddi and Henchi..you ever heard of em? We lost Hench a few months back...they were staples in the Boulder Denver scene since the late 60's...early 70'sd maybe...I joined them on the reunion in 1995.

DD: you and I are living the same life -- check my progress thread. Started weekend bingeing at 16 and never stopped. Weekend drinking spread to Thursdays. Ruined Sundays and then Mondays followed. And all the while I was a raging drunk I was running 20 miles a week and eating healthily. Naltrexone really worked for me -- check out my progress thread. Hang in there, you have a great chance of beating this thing with TSM. Post often and ask questions. Start at 25 mg the first few times on a full stomach to prevent nausea.

Can't say it better than anyone else previously. Welcome & good luck! The fact you are here speaks volumes...that is something I try to emphasize everywhere. At least we are TRYING to get better/acknowledging we have a problem/etc...

Hey guys. Thanks a lot for the support and the feedback. It's nice to go through this with others.

I got the nal yesterday and took it at about 4 this afternoon. I had a date with the girl I met last weekend and knew we'd probably be drinking. I went out with her and two of her friends to a restaurant bar. Her friends and her were joking and screwing around with inside crap I knew nothing about the whole time and I was pretty much miserable. This would usually be a good opportunity for me to get hammered. But I had only two coronas at the restaurant. They wanted to go out afterwards but I was pissed off so I took her home. Usually after a shitty date I'd go home and hit the whiskey hard and play my guitar. But, home now drank half a bud and am going to bed.

It's funny. I think I read in another post that the drinks still work but the 'magic' is gone. That's what I'm feeling tonight. I hope it lasts.

I did take a full 50mg pill. I tried to cut it in half but it shattered so I took the whole thing. Not bad side effects. I did feel extremely irritated but that could've been the company.

Jim, I don't know Freddi and Henchi but I've only lived here for 4 years. Sorry about your friend.

Nick, I checked out your thread. Nice work. I hope I have similar progress.

Hi DD. We have the same start date!! We also live similar lives (as do most people around here by the sound of it - diet, gym and guilt Mon-Fri, stupor for the weekend) I started Nal last night too. I would usually drink 1.5-2 bottles of wine (give or take 4 shots of vodka) every Fri, Sat and Sun (sometimes Thurs too). I have been like this for years with the exception of a few times I unsuccessfully stayed sober for a few months at a time.

Last night I took the Nal and had 2 glasses of wine - it was so weird. I tasted it, had a 'buzz' but I was only drinking it for the sake of drinking. I lost interest and had a diet coke. I put the rest of the bottle in the fridge. This is alien to me. I am just stunned at this. I did feel a bit fuzzy and nauteous and it made me very tired - but I have just returned from a trans Atlantic flight on Wednesday - so I am still a bit jet lagged I think. I also felt very 'ratty' and irritable - maybe it is a coincidence.

I hope you continue to have brilliant results. Keep a diary and I look forward to reading your progress.
